Korean Minhwa Association – Orange County Chapter

The Korean Minhwa Association – Orange County Chapter is a community of artists and educators dedicated to preserving and sharing the beauty of Minhwa, traditional Korean folk painting. Through exhibitions, workshops, educational programs, and community outreach activities, the organization promotes cultural exchange and inspires creativity while fostering appreciation for Korean artistic traditions.

The Orange County Chapter is currently led by artist and educator Hyejung Shin, who previously founded and led the Korean Folk Painting Society, which began in 2017 with six members. In 2021, the organization was officially designated as the Orange County Chapter and has continued to grow as an active cultural arts community. Today, Korean residents and local students throughout Orange County actively participate in a wide range of artistic and educational activities.

Building upon years of artistic education, community engagement, and cultural activities, the International Culture Lifelong Education Center was later established as a California nonprofit organization to provide a broader and more structured platform for educational programs, cultural exchange, volunteer opportunities, and community outreach. Today, both organizations continue working together to expand access to traditional Korean arts and lifelong learning experiences.

한국민화협회 오렌지카운티 지부는 한국 전통 민화의 아름다움을 보존하고 널리 알리기 위해 활동하는 예술가와 교육자들의 공동체입니다. 전시, 워크숍, 교육 프로그램, 지역사회 활동을 통해 문화 교류를 확대하고 창의성을 북돋우며 한국 전통예술의 가치를 널리 알리고 있습니다.

오렌지카운티 지부는 신혜정 작가가 2017년 6명의 멤버로 시작한 Korean Folk Painting Society를 기반으로 성장하였으며, 2021년 공식적으로 오렌지카운티 지부로 지정되어 현재까지 운영되고 있습니다. 현재 오렌지카운티 지역 한인 및 현지 학생들이 활발하게 참여하며 다양한 예술·교육 활동을 이어가고 있습니다.

국제문화평생교육센터는 한국민화협회 오렌지카운티 지부가 오랜 시간 쌓아온 활동을 기반으로 설립되었습니다. 그 시작은 신혜정 작가가 2017년 6명의 멤버와 함께 시작한 Korean Folk Painting Society였습니다. 이후 2021년 공식적으로 오렌지카운티 지부로 지정되어, 현재는 오렌지카운티 지역 한인 및 현지 학생들이 활발히 참여하는 문화예술 공동체로 성장하였습니다.

이러한 예술교육과 지역사회 활동의 경험을 바탕으로, 보다 체계적이고 폭넓은 문화 프로그램, 교육 활동, 봉사 프로그램, 지역사회 프로젝트를 운영하기 위해 국제문화평생교육센터가 캘리포니아 비영리 기관으로 설립되었습니다. 현재 두 기관은 함께 한국 전통예술과 평생교육의 가치를 널리 알리기 위해 협력하고 있습니다.
